„Words that heal – how to get teenagers to open up”
Sometimes one sentence can do more than a hundred rules. A good conversation can be like healing for the soul, especially when a young person feels lost, overwhelmed, or simply misunderstood. That’s why good communication is key when it comes to preventing drug use.
Teenagers don’t need lectures, They need a space where they can speak without fear of being judged. They need adults who don’t just listen, but truly hear them. Who ask questions not to catch them out, but to understand. Words that don’t hurt, but heal.
It’s not the talks about drugs that work best – it’s the talks about life. About what’s hard. About pressure, anxiety, loneliness. Because behind many decisions to try something dangerous, there’s a need to escape – and a good conversation can be the kind of escape that doesn’t harm but helps.
You don’t have to be a psychologist to make a difference. You just have to be there. And have the courage to speak – but also the courage to listen.
To support you in making small changes in communication and to make conversations with teenagers easier, we’ve created a video with examples from everyday situations. In the video, you’ll see scenes showing what poor communication looks like, followed by the same conversations handled in a more constructive way.
