The best prevention is deep and healthy relationship and having aim in life.

Project description

The “Safe and Drug Free” project, funded by the Erasmus+ Programme under the KA210-YOU action (Small-scale partnerships in youth), is an initiative designed to tackle the growing challenge of drug use and addiction among young people aged 15–25. This issue poses a serious risk to both their physical and mental well-being, affecting education, social inclusion, and long-term health.

The project addresses the critical need to support youth workers, educators, NGO staff, and other adult stakeholders who interact with young people regularly. These individuals often face difficulties identifying early signs of drug use, initiating supportive conversations, and guiding youth toward professional help. Despite their crucial role in prevention, many lack the knowledge, tools, and confidence needed to respond effectively.

Through a series of innovative, interactive, and collaborative actions, the project aims to build the capacity of these professionals, empowering them to become reliable sources of help and prevention. The initiative is implemented in partnership with organizations from Poland, Turkey, and North Macedonia, all of which are deeply engaged in youth work and share similar social challenges related to youth addiction and exclusion.

Aims

The main goals of the project are:

  • Educate and empower youth workers and educators about drugs, narcotics, and psychotropic substances — including their types, effects, warning signs, and ways to help those affected.
  • Promote prevention through improved communication and the use of empathetic, non-judgmental language when talking to youth at risk.
  • Develop and distribute practical, innovative tools to support non-formal education and engagement, including guides, multimedia content, and interactive scenarios.
  • Support inclusion and equity by addressing the needs of young people from vulnerable backgrounds, especially those affected by social, economic, or migration-related issues.
  • Encourage transnational cooperation and exchange of knowledge and best practices in the field of youth work and addiction prevention.
  • Enhance the overall quality of youth work by building the capacity of educators, NGOs, and institutions across the partner countries.
